Welcome to the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s Web site! The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the South Carolina Bar.

Our mission is to provide basic access to civil justice for low-income citizens, to offer law related education services to the public, to improve the administration of justice and to enhance the legal profession for members of the bench and bar of South Carolina.

How we accomplish our mission:
We serve as the administrator of the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts program (IOLTA). Since 1987, the Foundation has awarded more than $36 million to various legal-related organizations that work on behalf of the justice community.

We seek support from members of the South Carolina Bar. We work diligently to earn the support of lawyers because the fact is; the revenues generated from IOLTA only make a small dent in our mission to improve justice. We’re on a mission to get new donors – people like you who believe in what we do!

The Foundation is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors and is incorporated in South Carolina as a not-for-profit, charitable and educational organization. We are a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
