2007 Bankers Appreciation Luncheon

While we often recognize the grantee organizations who work day-to-day with the low-income community and South Carolina students, we do not as often publicly recognize our state’s banking community. IOLTA works due to the support and cooperation of South Carolina banks. From the dedicated staff who deal with the monthly remittance information to the teams who work with the Foundation to help IOLTA move toward reaching its full potential-IOLTA is a partnership with the Bar Foundation and the legal community.

Bankers Appreciation Luncheon
In May 2006, the Foundation held its first Bankers Appreciation Luncheon for the top 15 IOLTA banks. The event was a way for the IOLTA community to show our appreciation for our financial partners.

The Foundation gives sincere thanks to Bank of America and Wachovia, the first banks to offer more competitive rates on IOLTA accounts. In the early months of 2007, Bank of America agreed to offer 50 percent of the Federal Funds Rate on all of its IOLTA accounts. Wachovia similarly agreed to offer 50 percent of the Federal Funds Rate on its high-balance accounts. These two enhancements significantly impacted IOLTA revenues and are already being used to enhance the quality of life for South Carolinians.
