Legal Services Attorney Makes Generous Gift to
Foundation
Ethel Weinberg (a.k.a. Eddie) is
the latest attorney to join the Foundation’s planned giving efforts
with a significant gift to the Foundation. If the name seems
familiar… it should. Eddie was related to Rusty Weinberg whose
original estate gift to the Foundation paved the way for the
creation of a strategic planned giving program.
When Eddie was considering
making the gift she, of course, was drawn through the family
connection. However, as the Managing Attorney of the Columbia office
of South Carolina Legal Services, she sees on a daily basis the
direct impact that the Foundation has had on the provision of legal
services to the poor. In interviewing Eddie about the gift, she
said, “I’m torn about flashing my name with the Weinberg Society…
but Rusty and I were related and the stories around him and his
father, Mortimer, had some impact on my even considering law as a
career. For the most part, I feel that the Bar Foundation has been
such a supporter of legal services over the years and that has
benefited me directly; thus, it is only right that I give back.”
The Foundation is extremely
grateful to Eddie for continuing to add to the Foundation’s ability
to plan for the future. The Weinberg Society honors those who have
made estate gifts of $10,000 or any lawyer who indicates that he or
she has named the Foundation as a beneficiary in his or her will,
regardless of the amount.
If you
have included the Foundation in your will, please consider letting
us know so that your gift can encourage others.

giving page of our Web site for more information.
