The Foundation is proud to acknowledge
seven additional members who qualified for the Liberty Legacy
during the course of the fiscal year. This giving level
designates individuals or firms who have given cumulative gifts
of $5,000 during the course of their lifetime to permanent
Foundation funds.
Beverly A. Carroll of Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman, LLP
Bev
is in her second year of service on the Foundation Board, but
has been a long-time supporter of the Foundation. Bev focuses
her practice on employment law advising and litigation. She
practices in both North and South Carolina.
Anne S. Ellefson of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, PA
Anne is a former Foundation president and currently serves on
the Bar Board of Governors. Anne’s
real estate practice involves representing owners and developers
in commercial real estate transactions. She was elected
as Managing Director of her firm in February 2008 and is the
first female to lead a state-based law firm with more than 100
attorneys.
Elaine H. Fowler of Turner Padget Graham & Laney, PA
Elaine served on the Foundation Board during her tenure as
President of the SC Bar. She was instrumental in forming the
Foundation’s Children’s Fund. Elaine’s practice surrounds
transactional work, business and property owner association
representation as well as wealth transfer planning.
David A. Merline of Merline & Meacham, PA
Dave also served on the Foundation Board and has since served on
the Foundation’s Finance Committee. He is a certified specialist
in the areas of tax law and estate planning/probate law. Dave is
also a past president of the SC Bar’s Senior Lawyers Division.
James H. Rion Jr., of counsel, Richardson Patrick Westbrook &
Brickman, LLC
Jackie has been a long time supporter of the Foundation. He and
his wife, Jean, utilize an endowment, The James and Jean Rion
Endowment of Coastal Community Foundation, to support the legal
profession.
James A. Stuckey Jr., The Stuckey Law Offices, LLC
Jim
focuses his work in general and business litigation. He is a
former member of the SC Bar House of Delegates and has
participated in the Foundation’s Oral History program as an
interviewer.
Robert S. Wells of the SC Bar
Bob
has been an instrumental part of the Bar Foundation throughout
his tenure with the SC Bar. He is responsible for implementation
of the IOLTA program and has been a valued friend and advisor to
the Board. As Executive Director of the Bar, his experience and
insight is often sought by the Foundation.
